Air France Wine

As half of the Cellar Sleuths, I (Katie) am on my way to Penedès, the land of Cava!
But standing between me and Cava and Grenache from Priorat was an 8.5 hour flight across the Atlantic.
Guess what, though? Free wine! Now, I expected airplane wine to be potentially difficult to drink, and tolerable at best. But this was Air France, my friends. When I asked for their house (plane?) red wine, I got Château Romefort, Haut Médoc 2020 from Bordeaux!

As a Bordeaux blend from the left bank, this is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot. And it was surprisingly delightful! Now I typically enjoy Bordeaux, but I was not expecting quality wine on an airplane. But then, I’ve never flown Air France.
This wine was smooth and earthy and reminded me of eating blackberries off a bush.
With my pasta in red sauce, a Chianti from Italy probably would have paired better, but I have no complaints about free wine. And this was Air France, after all.
The next time you fly to Europe, book Air France to take advantage of the awesome plane wine!!
