Katie would have told you in the past that she doesn't prefer white wine, but after going on this years-long wine journey, that has definitely changed. While we may tend to be red wine drinkers overall, there are some really wonderful white wines to enjoy. Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is one of them. While Sauvignon Blanc's homeland is France, New Zealand has really created its own special wine with this grape. This particular wine, the Greyrock Sauvignon Blanc, is a pretty classic Sauv Blanc from the Marlborough region on the South Island of New Zealand. Get your nose in it--it smells like grapefruit, green bell pepper, and even celery and pineapple. Does that sound like an odd combo? Yes, but it's pretty delightful. You can absolutely taste the grapefruit, and with it some pineapple and lime. It's tart, crisp, and clean. This is the wine you want to drink poolside in the sun (with the wine cooled) reading a good book on a lawn chair.

Food pairing idea: this would be GREAT with fresh seafood (not fried/breaded/heavily buttered), shrimp cocktail, or even if you're looking for a wine to go with a fresh salad

In a nutshell,

The wine: A-

The price: $15 at Total Wine

Would we buy it again? for this price, absolutely
