Katie here. Syrah is one interesting grape. It’s grown in the Rhône Valley of France, and it’s very popular in Australia, where it’s called Shiraz. Lately, though, I’ve been loving Syrah from Washington state. They’re doing a great job! This wine is certainly no exception.

Oh my this is an interesting wine. Syrah has the reputation of smelling/tasting somewhat meaty, and this most certainly does. You may be thinking that sounds reeeaaal odd, and it does. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing! In this case, it really makes this wine more complex and fun. This Syrah has that kind of roasted meat note to it, as well as black pepper, cooked strawberries, plums, and even leather. This wine smells warm and rich, and it makes me think of the end of a warm summer day when the light is fading. Lovely. This is definitely a wine worth tasting! If you haven’t been checking out Washington wines in general, you really should!

This wine sells for $53 at Jacob Liquor
